Rose Marie Kenney

Rose Marie Kenney, 69, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Monday, May 18, 2026, at her home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Rose was born September 26, 1956, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Nick and Rosie (Green) Maharas. She attended Fort Dodge Community Schools. On December 31, 2005, she was united in marriage to Michael E. Kenney in Fort Dodge. For many years, she enjoyed working as a bartender until her retirement in 2013, due to health issues. She was the best bartender who also enjoyed cooking, online video games and taking care of her cats: Emily, Q-Tip and Cookie.

Rose is survived by her husband of 20 years: Mike Kenney of Fort Dodge; 4 children: Joe Kopish of Mount Vernon, IA, Justin Kopish of Mount Vernon, Annie Kopish of Miami, FL and Jason Kopish of Miami; bonus son: Aaron Palmer of Pensacola, FL; 1 grandchild; 3 step-children: Steve Kenney of Fort Dodge, Marc Kenney of Fort Dodge and Anne Kenney of Fort Dodge; 5 step-grandchildren: Alexis, Jasper, Trip, Jerrick and Jakobe; 2 step-great grandchildren: Greyson and Maverick; and 2 siblings: Dorothy Maharas of Fort Dodge and Bert Maharas of Forest City, IA. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Nick Maharas; and numerous extended family members.
