Ruth Ann Dickerson

Our beautiful mother, Ruth Ann Dickerson, 81, passed away Feb. 15 at Careage. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, February 19 at Bruce-Graham Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home.

Ruth Ann was born April 8, 1930 in Barnum the daughter of Dillard and Anna Monson, full-blooded Norwegians, as Ruth was very proud to tell everyone. She grew up with her brothers Russell, Grant Jr., and Larry, and sister Penny. As a teenager, Ruth moved to California and Texas before returning to Iowa. Ruth worked in a dentist's office and Hogan's Sporting Goods, then married Robert Dickerson in 1953. Ruth had five children, Debbie Dolder, Jane McLaughlin, Joyce Bickford, Bob Dickerson and Tom Dickerson.

Ruth cherished raising her children and teaching wonderful values on how to live life and be a good parent. Ruth's hobbies included gardening, needle point, talking on the phone with her many close friends, fixing the best grilled cheese sandwiches in the world, watching her favorite soap opera the Young and the Restless, and reading before bed. She was also a big St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and loved watching the Cardinals win a fantastic World Series last year. Her favorite team and players were from the 1980s and included Ozzie Smith and Willie McGee.

Ruth was very fond and proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed all their visits to her beautiful home that she lived in for over 50 years.

The family would like to send out special thanks to the Hospice staff, in particular Erin and Colleen who were wonderful. Thanks also goes out to the Careage staff as well.
