Sandra was born September 17, 1947, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Rex and Lois (Spore) Lewis. She attended Waterloo East High School. On June 25, 1966, she was united in marriage to John Claus in Waterloo. Sandra was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed being a plangonologist (collector of dolls). Many years ago, Sandra raised foster children. She adored babies and small children. They were like “honorary grandchildren”. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses and loved volunteering her time to teach people the Bible. Sandra had lots of friends and loved everyone. She was a great listener and a very forgiving person. She will be deeply missed.

Sandra is survived by her husband of 53 years: John Claus of Fort Dodge; her mother: Lois Lewis of Waterloo; 3 children: Dan Claus and wife Eileen of Rochester, MN, Aaron Claus of Fort Dodge and Mylina Claus of Fort Dodge; 4 grandchildren: Kylissa, Kamela, Kirsten and Corban; numerous great grandchildren; and 3 siblings: Linda Devore and husband Jerry of Waterloo, Peggy Gienau and husband Jeff of Waterloo, and Randall Lewis and wife Naomi Lori of New Hampton, IA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father: Rex Lewis.
