Sharon A. Delp, 84, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Sunday, March 24, 2024, at her home. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at By The Grace of God Church, 326 West Street – Barnum, IA. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.
Sharon was born December 27, 1939, in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Alice (Lansing) and Raymond Gravlund. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1958. She later continued her education at Cosmetology School. On December 10, 1961, she was united in marriage to Arthur Delp in Callender, IA. The couple met at the Bohemian Hall as they shared a love for dancing. Over the years, she worked for Globe Union, Lazy Ike’s, operated her in-home beauty shop, CMA for Webster Health Care (County Home), Trinity Regional Medical Center (Laundry Dept.) and Delp Auto and Truck (Secretary) until her retirement in 2002. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, puzzle books, trips to visit family & friends, tending to her plants and flowers, and taking care of her dogs: Taffy, Elsa, Sophia and Sully.
Sharon is survived by 2 children: Rod Delp and wife Diane of Duncombe, IA and Deb Delp and special friend John of Fort Dodge; honorary son: Rafeal; 2 grandchildren: Ashley Rank of Fort Dodge and Mariah Messerly and husband Jacob of Rockwell City, IA; 4 great grandchildren: Braylin, Addison, Ryder and HazeLee; and sister: Darlene York of Missouri. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2016; and sister: Lavonne Cooke.
