Sharon Sherry M. Phillips

Sharon “Sherry” M. Phillips, 65, of Dayton, IA and formerly of Fort Dodge, IA died Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge, with Rev. Kris Leaman of St. Mark's Episcopal Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1007 1st Avenue South, Fort Dodge, IA 50501 or to an organization providing clean drinking water in Africa.

Sharon McNamara Phillips was born September 12, 1953, in Toyko, Japan, the daughter of John W. and Lelia (Echols) Phillips. In 1955, her family moved back to the United States. They lived in Charlottesville, Virginia for 12 years before moving to Fort Dodge. Sherry graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1972. She was a resident of Grandview Nursing Home and a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Fort Dodge.

Sherry had a joyful spirit, a deep faith, a great love for God and a huge heart for other people. She enjoyed reading the Bible and making latch work wall hangings and rugs.

Sherry is survived by her maternal aunt Elizabeth Walter-Echols and uncle Gerd Walter-Echols of Gruenstadt, Germany and nine first cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother: John E. Phillips.
