Stanley G. Johnson, 89, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday January 5, 2006 at the Hamilton Hospital, Webster City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 10, 2006 at the Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Mathew Martens officiating. Interment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Stanley was born November 3, 1916 the son of Swan and Alma Johnson in Fort Dodge, IA. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High with the class of 1935. Stanley was inducted into the United States Army on June 8, 1942. He served his country until his honorable discharge on January 2, 1946. Stanley earned the following decorations and citations for his actions; one service stripe, two overseas service bars, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, American campaign medal, good conduct medal, and the World War II Victory medal. Stanley was proud of his military history and spoke often about his adventures.

In 1966 Stanley was united in marriage to Bernidine in Sioux Falls, SD the couple then made there home in Fort Dodge.

Stanley enjoyed watching sports and was both a loyal Cyclone and Hawkeye. He was known to be walking the mall every morning and would later have lunch and Brownies Café. Stanley was active in numerous church events at Grace Lutheran. Stanley was a 50 + year member of the American Legion Post 130, a Life member of the V.F.W. Post 1856, and a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Those thankful for having shared in Stanleys life include two step-daughters; Judy Nepper of Otho, Linda Krugman of Madison, WI, eight grandchildren; Rebecca, Todd, Wendy, Pam, Mandy, Michelle, Angela, and Keith, and eighteen great grandchildren.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernidine, a step-daughter; Patricia Faber, and one great granddaughter; Ambriel Marie Koop.
