Terry Joe Helmers

Terry Joe Helmers, 77, of Coalville, IA, died Thursday, May 28, 2026, at his home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Terry was born November 23, 1948, in Charles City, IA, the son of Edwin I. and Evelyn B. (Spurbeck) Helmers. Over the years, he worked for Viking Pump and American Concrete until his retirement in 2014. Terry enjoyed family and friends, motorcycles, classic cars, painting cars, camping and dogs. He was a member of the classic car community.

Terry is survived by his son: Travis (Ashley) Saunders of Cedar Falls, IA; grandchildren: Courtney Saunders, Tayah Medhaug, Cassie Saunders, Tenley Saunders and Presley Saunders; and great grandchild: Leland Tice. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister: Christine Marie Morriss.
