Thomas D. Vinsand

Thomas D. Vinsand, 69, of Badger, IA, died Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at the Badger Lutheran Church, 127 2nd Avenue SE - Badger, with Pastor Scott Meier officiating. Interment will follow at the Pioneer Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post 1856 and the Iowa Army National Honor Guard. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the church service. Memorials may be directed to the family. Thomas was born November 6, 1950, in Fort Dodge, the son of Charles Mervin and Mildred Gladys (Rathke) Vinsand. He attended Fort Dodge Senior High. In 1969, Thomas enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1972. Thomas worked at Johanson's Seed and Milling Company for many years. Thomas enjoyed being a collector of EVERYTHING! He also enjoyed gardening, playing with his nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews, and driving his scooter all over Badger to visit with his many friends. At Christmas Thomas would bake goodies for his family and friends. He was a member of the Badger Lutheran Church. Thomas is survived by 9 siblings: Donald Vinsand of Fort Dodge, Janet Knudson of Fort Dodge, Carol Gibson and husband David of North Bend, WA, James Vinsand and wife Carla of Fort Dodge, Roger Vinsand and wife Regina of Fort Dodge, Kenneth Vinsand of Dayton, IA, Carla Rae Hansen and husband Jerry of Fort Dodge, Patti Jean Henderson of Tucson, AZ, and Sheila Davis and husband Jack of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great & great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 siblings: Allen Vinsand and Terry Curtis Vinsand; brothers and sisters-in-law: Sharon Vinsand, Duane Knudson, Jean Vinsand, Larry Sallee and Donna Vinsand; and nephew: Patrick Vinsand. He was also preceded in death by all his aunts and uncles.
