Thomas John Harris

Thomas John Harris, 62, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Thursday, November 27, 2025, at his home. Graveside services will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Thomas was born August 2, 1963, in Syracuse, NY, the son of Diane J. (Dunn) and Walter J. Harris. He attended Springfield High School in Springfield, OR where he was a Track and Field All-American. Thomas proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 10 years, as a Sargent and Sharpshooter. In 1996, he was united in marriage to Bethany Earls, and to this union one son was born, Blake. The couple later divorced. Thomas worked at Apache RV in Portland and most recently at Prestage Foods. In his younger years, he enjoyed running and ran a marathon with his father. He also had a great love for fishing.

Thomas is survived by his son: Blake Harris of Portland, OR; his father: Walter Harris and wife Jane of Boise, ID; sister: Connie Runyon and husband Preston of Veneta, OR; and his companion of 20 years: Robin Tracy. He is also survived by his nephews Derek Harris and Colin Schauermann.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Diane Keeney.
