Vivian A. Bradshaw

Vivian A. Bradshaw was born August 25, 1915 to George and Ethel (Quick) Bradshaw in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Vivian passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge at the age of 97.

A 1933 graduate of Fort Dodge High School, Vivian studied violin privately under the direction of Professor Gustaf Tinlot in New York for two years. She then attended the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, graduating in 1939. Following graduation she returned to Fort Dodge and gave private violin lessons and taught violin at the Junior High for several years. To satisfy her quest for learning she enrolled at the Secretarial School at the Career Institute in Chicago. Following graduation she worked for Music News Magazine as its business manager, for Publishers Development Corporation as Publisher of Music, and finally for Radio WAAF as Chief Music Librarian. In the late 1950's she returned to Fort Dodge and worked with her father, in his law practice, for many years.

Vivian loved the violin and played second chair for the Fort Dodge Symphony for many years. She was a wonderful friend to all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marvin (Charldine) Bradshaw.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Phil Somsen officiating.
