Walter Sampson

Walter R. Sampson, 74, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Friendship Haven. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Walter was born November 12, 1951, in Fort Dodge, the son of Walter E. and Betty (Reed) Sampson. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1969. He later continued his education at Iowa Central Community College. For most of his career, he worked in sales. Walter was a true hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed cars, trucks, boats and spending time with his close friends. He loved dogs and taking care of “Dixie”.

Walter is survived by his son: Nathan Sampson and wife Stacy of Lee’s Summit, MO; and 2 sisters: Linda Hempfling and husband Charles of Hawthorn Woods, IL and Jill Fritts and husband Joe of Cary, IL. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
