Wendell W. West

Wendell W. West, 71, of Bradgate, IA, died Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at his home. A private family committal service will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Wendell was born September 18, 1954, in Fort Dodge, IA, the son of Avril and Olive (Campbell) West. He attended Fort Dodge Schools. In 1974, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1976. Over the years, he worked for Monson and Sons, Diamond Transportation, California Mining Company and Winger. He retired in 2008. On September 24, 2014, he was united in marriage to Deb (Parks) in Fort Dodge. Wendell enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on cars & trucks. Most of all, he enjoyed picking on his children and grandchildren.

Wendell is survived by 3 children: Laura Miller of DeWitt, IA, Wade West and fiancée Jamie Tack of Clinton, IA and James West and girlfriend Stephanie Stoos of Rockwell City, IA; 6 grandchildren: Daniel and wife Natalie, Cory Jr., Emma, Austin, Genevieve and Alexxis; and 1 great grandchild: Elijah. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Deb West in April of 2026; and 9 siblings: Karen, Wendy, Denny, Mary Ann, Nancy, Ronnie, James, Butch and Olivia.
