Funeral Services for Woodrow Eugene (Gene) Pride, 90, of Fort Dodge will be Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services.

Gene Pride was born March 30, 1923 to Clifford and Anna (McBride) Pride while his mother was visiting his grandparents in Worth County, Missouri.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enlisted in the army in 1942, serving as a medical assistant in the 660th Medical CLR in Belgium, France and Germany in World War II. He was recipient of the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

He was united in marriage to Irma Consier on July 26, 1946. Gene worked for Tobin Meat Packers which later became Hormels. He retired early after the plant closed. He was a member of the American Legion. He traveled to Washington, D.C., on the Brushy Creek Honor Flight on September 17, 2012. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, woodworking and visiting family.

Gene is survived by his daughters: Irma Jean Pride of Fort Dodge, Pauline (Steve) Grandors of Fort Dodge, Sheryl (Mark) Jones of Fargo, ND, daughter-in-law, Sandra Pride of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughters Elizabeth (Jim) Knight, Lindsey (Chris) Bramell, Brianna (Corey) Isaak, Andrea Jones, and Stephanie Grandors; three great grandchildren Peyton, Olivia and Carson Knight and one brother Kenneth Pride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irma in 2009, his sons Woodrow Jr., John and William (Bill) Pride, one brother, Clifford Pride and one sister, Cleo Stokes.

Gene had requested no flowers; memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Fort Dodge Area Funeral and Cremation Service, Bruce Funeral Home assisted family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to brucesfuneralhome.com
