Carol S. Dillingham, 73, of Ankeny, IA, died Monday, January 24, 2022, at Accura HealthCare of Newton – West in Newton, IA after a prolonged battle with Alzheimers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South – Fort Dodge, with Pastor Phil Webb of Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Holaday Creek Cemetery. Services will be live streamed via the Historic Bruce Funeral Home Facebook page. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or alz.org, or your local United Methodist Women Organization.

Carol was born May 20, 1948, in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Glenn and Wilma (Frye) King. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1966. On September 18, 1966, she was united in marriage to Robert Dillingham in Eagle Grove. Over the years, she cooked for many different places including schools and hospitals. She was most proud of her donut making abilities while working at Casey's in Carney and enjoyed sharing her donuts with her grandchildren especially. Carol enjoyed family reunions and spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed craft fairs, the Farmers Market, coffee with friends at Panera, and traveling to visit family. Carol was very social and had a strong faith in God. She was a faithful member of Ankeny First United Methodist Church and Duncombe United Methodist Church, where she was very active in UMW.

Carol is survived by 4 children: Catharine Griswold and husband Scott of Duncombe, IA, Christine Gustafson of Altoona, IA, Carri Ash and husband David of Des Moines, and Rev. Rob Dillingham and wife Sarah of Neoga, IL; 13 grandchildren: Nathan Griswold and wife Emily, Sabrina Bowgren and husband Nick, Nicholas Griswold, Noah Griswold, Grace Gustafson, Alex Gustafson, Abby Gustafson, Charlie Garner, Ella Ash, Kiana Garner, Vera Dillingham, Harmony Dillingham and Joseph Dillingham; and 1 great grandchild: Kai Griswold. She is also survived by a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2005 and her parents when she was a  young woman.
