Donald L. Rogers, 81, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.  Private family services will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Donald was born June 2, 1940, in Fort Dodge, IA, the son of Earl and Lillie (Goodman) Rogers.  He attended Fort Dodge Senior High.  On August 2, 1959, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Volf at the Otho Methodist Church.  Don worked for the City of Fort Dodge (Street Department) for 39 years until his retirement in 2001.    Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his dog:  Annie.  He loved visiting with people and telling stories.

Don is survived by his wife of 62 years:  Dorothy Rogers of Fort Dodge; 3 children:  Mike Rogers of Fort Dodge, Cathy Anderson of Ames, IA, and Michelle Dowd and husband Bill of Fort Dodge; 6 grandchildren:  Justin Rogers and wife Jonah of Ankeny, IA, Jeanna Gronbach and husband Matt of Fort Dodge, Makenna Browning and husband Mark of Newton, IA, P.J. Dowd and wife Shelley of Brandon, SD, Katie Quinn and husband Jake of Washington, IA, and Bryan Dowd of Fort Myers, FL; and 15 great grandchildren.  He will also be sorely missed by his dog:  Annie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law:  Ken Anderson; and mother & father-in-law:  Ulric and Clara Volf.

A Fisherman’s Prayer:  I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day, and when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray:  When in the Lord’s great landing net and peacefully asleep, that in His mercy, I be judged big enough to keep.
