Jay D. Cranston, 60, of Storm Lake, IA, joined his wife in Heaven on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.  Private family services will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Jay was born January 8, 1962, in Belmond, IA, the son of Bruce N. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Peck) Cranston.  He graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1980, and continued his education at the University of Northern Iowa and Buena Vista University where he earned his BA Degree.  On December 16, 1983, he was united in marriage to Kathy Kuecker at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake.  Jay enjoyed coin-collecting, fishing, cribbage, bonfires, being in the outdoors, Star Trek, music, old movies and hanging out with family.  He had a sharp memory and loved visiting about the “old days”.

Jay is survived by 3 children: Jessica Huss and husband Josh of Storm Lake, Halley Mericle and husband Bryan of Fort Dodge, and Julie Cranston of Fort Dodge; 6 grandchildren:  Jack Huss, Jude Huss, Gage Mericle, Charlie Mericle, Ellie Mericle and Lilly Cranston; 5 siblings:  Claudeen Buettner and husband Donald of Twin Falls, ID, Mark Cranston and wife Kathy of Jefferson, IA, Rebecca Hewitt of Belton, TX, Cindy (Felton) Brauchi and husband John of Tempe, AZ, and Michael Cranston of Twin Falls, ID; and sister-in-law:  Shawna Cranston of Bradenton,  FL.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
