Jerry Lee Mabe

Jerry Lee Mabe of Center Point, Iowa and formerly of Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Methodist West Hospital on April 10, 2022, in West Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 70.  A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM followed by a Funeral Discourse at 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South – Fort Dodge, with Randy Mason of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating.  Services will be livestreamed via the Historic Bruce Funeral Home Facebook page.  Inurnment will take place at Oakland Cemetery.  Flowers/donations can be sent to Bruce Funeral Home.  The family would like to thank the staff at Methodist West Hospital in ER and 4 West for their care of Jerry.

Jerry was born October 4, 1951, in Fort Dodge, the son of Frank B. and Lindora Mae Mabe (Cackler).  He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1970.  He was hardworking having worked in the family business Mabe’s DX with his father and Uncle Rich.  He was a skilled auto mechanic and auto body repair and painting.  Jerry was married to Debra Mosier July 21, 1972.  They brought five children into the world and later divorced after 25 years.

Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family – especially his children and grandchildren and grand doggy Casper.  He had a strong religious faith and was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, since 1981.  Strong belief in resurrection and a paradise earth.

Jerry is survived by five children:  Belinda (Mike) Marnach of Fort Dodge, Ann (Chuck) Sandahl of Fort Dodge, Jerry “Jay” Mabe and wife Amanda of Pleasant Hill, IA, Jennifer Mabe-Nine of Waukee, IA, and Jeffery Mabe of Vinton, IA; 19 grandchildren:  Makayla, Dylan, Kallie, William, Connor, Braden, Ashlyn, Leah, Hunter, Emma, Blake, Jackson, JayLynn, Gabe, Kia, Carley, Jamila, Michael and Libby; 3 great grandchildren; 1 sister:  Glenda (Scott) Monge of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins (Wallace, Carpenter and Mabe’s).

He was preceded in death by his parents:  Frank and Lindy; his great grandparents:  Iva and Frank Cackler; 1 sister:  Karla Raye and her husband Robert Carpenter; 3 grandchildren:  Riley, and twins:  Caleb and Malcolm; great nephew:  Michael Carpenter; and his beloved dog Casper.
