Kay Florence Pingel, 80, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South.  Graveside services will follow at North Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Jena Finch-Manchester of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Kay was born August 12, 1941, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Harold and Esther (Taylor) Dessinger.  She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1959.  She was united in marriage to Donald Pingel Jr. and to this union 3 children were born:  Robert, Tammy and Donald III.  The couple later divorced.  Over the years, Kay worked at Hormel’s (9 years) and waitressed at Sandstone Inn until their closing.    Kay loved to play BINGO.  Her boss even gave her the nickname “Bingo”.  Kay also enjoyed playing cards with family, casino trips, car rides, tending to her flower garden, watching TV and bowling.  Kay was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.

Kay is survived by 3 children:  Robert Daniel Pingel of Callender, IA, Tammy Jo Pingel of Fort Dodge, and Donald William Pingel III of Fort Dodge; 4 grandchildren:  Bobby, Jonathon, Danielle (Sam), and Ashley (Cory); 7 great grandchildren; 3 siblings:  Kevin Dessinger and wife Cheri of Mount Ayr, IA, Karen Richards of Fort Dodge, and Keith Richards of Fort Dodge; half-brother:  Terry Dessinger and wife Martha of Fort Dodge; and brother-in-law: Jim Justice of Lampe, MO.   She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father:  Vernon Richards; her ex-husband:  Donald Pingel Jr.; sister:  Kathy Justice; and daughter-in-law:  Pam Pingel.
