Matilda “Tillie” M. Whittington, 75, of Fort Dodge, IA, passed Thursday, April 27, 2023, at her home. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South.    Inurnment will take place at St. Olaf Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.

Matilda was born December 11, 1947, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Robert F. and Esther J. (Felkey) Coleman.  She attended Fort Dodge Schools.  On June 26, 1965, she was united in marriage to Dennis LaVern Whittington in Fort Dodge.  Over the years, she worked at Globe Union/Central Lab and Pfizer which later became Boehringer Ingelheim until her retirement in 2009.  Tillie loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed shopping.

Tillie is survived by 3 children:  David Whittington and wife Kim of Fort Dodge, Shelly Whittington and husband Mitchell Kraft of Fort Dodge, and Steven Whittington of Fort Dodge; daughter-in-law:  Faith Whittington; 10 grandchildren: Krystal Brown and husband David, Kyle Whittington and wife Tatum, Kallie Whittington, Michelle Kraft, MaKenzie Kraft, MaCaella Kraft, Dylan Wolftornabane and wife Ashley, Breana Whittington, Wesley Whittington, and Isabella Whittington; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters:  Janice Hendrickson and husband Jack of Fort Dodge and Sandra Schaumburg of Fort Dodge.  She is also survived by her niece:  Becky Brundige and nephew:  Jimmy Hendrickson; as well as many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2018; a son:  Chad Whittington in 2019; 12 siblings:  JoAnn  McCarville, Joyce Farmer, Roberta Brundige, Jerry Coleman, Beverly Selhaver, Larry Coleman, Merle Coleman, Paul Coleman, Esther Degelau, Marilyn Gibson, Jacki Beekman and Mavis Smith; and a brother-in-law:  Don Schaumburg.
